New Lincoln Mass

* TWO NEW LATIN MASS*
CENTRES IN LINCOLNSHIRE

LINCOLN - EVERY 2nd SUNDAY at 4pm

SKEGNESS - EVERY 4th SUNDAY at 5pm

...Please support these two new Traditional Latin Masses which are being celebrated by the only traditionally ordained Latin Mass priest in the East of England. We really need good turnouts to get this off the ground. Homeschoolers are also very welcome as Fr. Dominic is the chaplain to the Lincolnshire homeschool families. Those who know Fr. Dominic will testify to the fact that he is one of the finest priests in the country. Father has just taken up is post again in Lincolnshire in Skegness and will be travelling to Lincoln for Latin Masses there on every second Sunday at 4pm.

Please support these Masses as it has literally taken 7 years to get to this point. I would also like to thank Fr. Matthew Jakes at St. Hugh's who has very much supported the setting up of this new Mass. The Bishop has also been supportive of keeping a Latin Mass priest in Lincolnshire. Many thanks, Michael

Recent Latin Mass Trips!
 .
Over the last six months some members of the Lincolnshire Latin Mass community have been traveling to some historic Pontifical Latin Masses (with Bishops Davis, Cambell, and McMahon) at the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (Dome of Home & St. Walburges), and the F.S.S.P. (Warrington). Other trips have been to The LMS Pilgrimages in Honour of St. Margaret Clitherow (York), and St. Winifride (Holywell, Wales). Special mention must be made of the historic F.S.S.P. traditional ordinations in Warrington this weekend.

For the first time since the well respected and late Fr. Holy Rood Catholic Church Market Rasen Epiphany Latin Mass

CANDLELIT LATIN MASS

ON THE SOLEMNITY OF

THE EPIPHANY OF OUR LORD
 .
HOLY ROOD ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
MARKET RASEN

On the Solemnity of the Epiphany of Our Lord
something quite unexpected happened. In a small isolated town, literally in the middle of nowhere, nearly 70 people attended an extra-ordinary form Latin Mass in Lincolnshire. As many will be aware, this is an unprecedented occurrence in this part of the world. This comes after another recent & successful Votive Mass of the Holy Cross at Market Rasen when over half of the Sunday congregation turned out in late October. Fr.O’Connor of Brigg travelled to Holy Rood, along with the Brigg server who also journeyed a great distance to serve this Mass. We are indebted to both of them. A great debt of thanks also goes out to our schola who sang some wonderful ancient plainchant appropriate to the Mass. The photos were taken by John Aron. Thanks also to all those at Holy Rood who were so supportive and helpful.

MARKET RASEN VOTIVE LATIN MASS OF THE HOLY CROSS

HOLYROOD MARKET RASEN
VOTIVE LOW LATIN MASS
OF THE HOLY CROSS
WITH BENEDICTION
.
Friday 24th October, 7pm
.

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that there will be benediction & a votive low Latin Mass celebrated at Holyrood Catholic Church Market Rasen.

There will be a total of four Latin Masses celebrated at Market Rasen over the following year.

Being a Friday, and a Mass of the Holy Cross, the recently discovered Sixhills chasuble will be used with its original medieval panels. Needless to say that this particular mass has been chosen to highlight the patronal name of Holyrood.

St Peters Leicester Latin Mass Introductory Day

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE E.F. LITURGY AT
ST. PETERS CHURCH, LEICESTER:
A GREAT SUCCESS.

Five members of the Lincolnshire Latin Mass community travelled down to Leicester for the recent E.F. Introductory Day. The day was organised by Fr. Cahill and the Latin Mass Society representative for the East Midlands, Paul Beardsmore.

Although having attended other Latin Mass Society events, I had never attended what could be described as an 'informal' training day. It was not known how many would attend, but on the day I can report that for High Solemn Mass there were many that had standing room only. What struck me throughout the day was the friendliness and relaxed nature of the meeting. Of course when like-minded people come together this is often the case, and having attended other LMS events it is always good to bump into familiar faces who you soon become well acquainted with.

One aspect I particularly liked was the use of the Missa de Angelis during the liturgy. Although other Mass settings are normally used in the High Solemn Mass this was the perfect choice for an introductory day and certainly gave newcomers a solid introduction to 'call and response' which is often missing in the modern liturgy. It is worthy of note that the Missa de Angelis is often quoted as a pre-Vatican II favourite and it was excellent to hear it in its entirety in this particular setting; it was the most apt of choices. There were a number of sessions during the day including altar Server training for Low Mass, server responses for Low Mass, chants for Mass responses and ordinary, chant responses for Benediction, and the history of the Traditional Latin Mass.

It was good to see that the altar server training was attended by about twenty people who were mostly around the 16-22 age range. The St. Peter's MC led the session and it was also good to see an investment in the future with all present receiving the classic How to Serve Low Mass by Rev. William O'Brien.

. .
During the day there was the sound of plainchant resonating through the building . I am always surprised when untrained voices come together to make such a wonderful noise. The highly proficient Jeremy Boot ran the Chant Responses for Mass and the Ordinary and the group practiced the wonderful Orbis Factor Mass setting, a particular favourite. Fr Cahill ran the History of the Roman Rite Sessions. Having spoken to Fr. Cahill at the York pilgrimage he hopes that a similar event may happen again.
